Marian Community College
Community Colleges are an alternative system of education which aims to empower individuals through appropriate skill development leading to gainful employment in collaboration with the local industry and community. They offer the advantage of tailoring programmes to local needs and state-based requirements by using approaches that will be most acceptable to workers in the given community.
Marian Community College, the Extension Centre of Marian College was inaugurated on November 02, 2007 by Mar Mathew Arackal, Patron of the College. On August 26, 2008, it was registered as a charitable trust to cater to the learning needs of the local community. It is envisaged as a bi-focal nodal department for the extension dimension of higher education imparted in the college. The main focus is to address the learning needs of the less-privileged people around the college and the other focus is to address the challenges of continuing education.
Objectives of Marian Community College
1. 1. To respond to the learning needs of people in the state of Kerala with special focus on Idukki District by offering short-term courses and training programmes
2. 2. To sensitize students about the socio-economic realities
3. 3. To design and implement short-term courses and workshops for continuing education and professional development
4. 4. To act as a nodal department, coordinating the extension activities offered by the different departments and organizations in the college.
