IGNOU Registration
IGNOU, also called ‘People’s University’ has contributed significantly to the development of higher education in our country through the Open and Distance Learning (ODL) mode. Marian Community College is registered with IGNOU (Regn. No. CMC 6803). For the courses conducted by Marian Community College, certificates are issued by IGNOU and they have a worldwide acceptance.
Courses
Marian Community College currently offers two courses:
1) Diploma in Computer Hardware and Networking (Code: CHND 3001)
2) Diploma in Hotel Management and Catering Technology (Code: HCD 3001)
Both these Diploma courses are Category 3 programs of one year duration having 35 credits each. Students who have passed 10th standard are eligible to join these programs.
The fee for CHND 3001 is Rs.16000 and for HCD 3001 is Rs.23000. Fees are remitted in three installments during the course of study.
Foundation Course subjects such as Life coping skills, Linguistic & Communication Skills and Basic Computer Applications are taught in both these courses.
Teaching Methodology
The education imparted is student centered and lecture method is augmented through other methods like group discussions, presentations, role plays, activity assignments, industrial visits, etc. Practical sessions include demonstration and do-it-yourself sessions which help to boost students’ confidence.
Evaluation Methodology
Students are evaluated for Continuous Assessment based on their attendance, class performance, assignments, projects, etc. For Term End examinations equal importance is given to Theory, Practical and Viva Voce. The main purpose of the assessments is to find out if the students have learned the skills for getting gainfully employed after the course.
Examinations
Term end examinations are conducted at the end of the first and second semester i.e., in December and May. Results are sent to IGNOU for certification
