Marian is now Kerala’s First Red Hat Academy


Marian College Kuttikkanam (Autonomous) has become the first campus that has a Red Hat Academy in Kerala under the new scheme. Over the past 14 years, the students of Marian have gained access to comprehensive open source technology certifications, such as Red Hat Certified System Administrator (RHCSA) and Red Hat Certified Engineer (RHCE).


From 2003 onwards training classes were included as an additional add-on training, in the year 2005-06, all the students of MCA at Marian got certified in Red Hat stream, a first time achievement among students ¡n campuses ail over India. As Marian now becomes a Red Hat Academy, students at Marian could now earn their certifications at a nominal fee. The Red Hat training is now part of the core curriculum and the same is expected to empower students for better opportunity in the open source sector.


The inaugural ceremony of Red Hat Academy at Marion was held on 17 February 2017 and was inaugurated by Mr Tarliq Fasal (Global head of Red Hat Academy). Rev Fr James Kozhimala, Manager, Marian College and Prof Dr Mendus Jacob, Director MCA took part ¡n the function. Students who earned certifications were honoured by Mr Tariq Fasal along with Ms Anubha Sinha (Guinness book of world records holder) and Mr Bastin Thomas (Co-founder, Linways Technology Pvt. Ltd)
