Description: The World Nature Conservation Day was celebrated by the School of social work in association with National Service Scheme and Samaritans on 26th of July, 2022. The program started by 1:35 PM in front of the Old Academic Block Marian College Kuttikkanam Autonomous with an enthusiastic performance by the III year BSW students. A Flash Mob followed by the Mime were conducted to spread awareness on Nature Conservation Day. The next event conducted was ‘Cleaning Drive’ at pine Forest. Students started to depart to pine forest by 2.15 PM after the lunch break. The Students from various departments were joined for the activity with active participation from NSS. By 2 PM participants were requested to assemble in front of the academic block and by 2:15 PM we left together from there. Gloves and other necessary equipments were provided to participants to ensure their safety. Along with students and faculties the officers of Erumeli Forest range department have also helped a lot for the successful completion of the program. A team of 5 forest officials including forest Officer Mr. Mahesh participated in the drive to guide students in effective coordination of the activity. The forest Officer gave a general orientation regarding the environmental structure in Peerumed and importance of nature conservation. The students cleaned the waste such as plastic bottles and other plastic items as part of the clean drive. Students were divided into team of 15 and where allotted with selective location to conduct cleaning. The clean drive was conducted from 2:30pm – 4:15pm. Almost 60 students took part in the clean drive. Refreshments after the cleaning was provided to the students, the officers and the faculty members. Finally the programme was concluded by a vote of thanks by S. Rohit Krishna the secretary of Samaritan . Poster Making Competition on the theme ‘human and nature’ was also conducted as part of the celebration. Last date for submission of posters was 27th J
